Thai Beef With Noodles

Cut: Top Sirloin Steak
Preparation Time: 5 Minutes
Marinate Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes

Main Ingredients:

1 lb. boneless beef top sirloin, cut 1-inch thick
 1/4 c. dry sherry
 1 1/2 TBS. reduced-sodium soy sauce
 1 tsp. fresh ginger, grated
 1 tsp. garlic, minced
1 tsp. Oriental dark roasted sesame oil
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. red pepper pods, crushed
2 c. cooked Ramen noodles or linguine
1/4 c. green onion tops or fresh cilantro, chopped

Directions:
  1. Combine sherry, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, sesame oil and pepper pods for marinade. Place beef steak in plastic bag; add marinade. Close bag securely and marinate 15 minutes. Pour off marinade. Bring marinade to a rolling boil; reserve.
  2. Heat nonstick skillet over medium heat for 5 minutes. Add steak and cook 12 to 15 minutes for rare (140 degrees) to medium (160 degrees), turning once. Remove steak; keep warm. Dissolve 2 tsp. cornstarch in reserved marinade and 1/4 c. water; add to skillet. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Stir in noodles. Carve steak into thin slices and serve over noodles. Sprinkle with green onion. Makes 4 servings.
Recipe Tips:
  • A small beef tenderloin could be substituted for top sirloin.
  • If fresh ginger is not available, use a teaspoon of ground ginger.
  • This recipe can be easily adjusted for 2 servings. Go ahead and make the same amount of sauce, just use less beef.
